Students experienced the unique sound of the bagpipes when Mrs. Katie Helms visited Central Elementary School Wednesday March 20, 2024. Mrs. Helms learned the bagpipes after the death of her son and has played for about 15 years. She explained how music helps her get into a better mood, it is her decision if she lets others get her down. People may look at her Scottish outfit and laugh, but we are all unique and special in our own way. Mrs. Katie volunteers her time and plays in parades, churches, schools and funerals. This was a great addition to Music in Our Schools Month.
